Update: Video of Thief Taking Items from Unlocked Vehicle

A video is now available of the thief who removed two bags from an unlocked vehicle on May 5, 2013 between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM.  The vehicle was parked on Norman Street in Sarnia.  The value of the goods taken was over $500.00.  The theft took less than one minute. Can You Identify This Thief?

Sarnia Police Service are hoping that someone can identify this thief who stole two baseball bags from inside an unlocked parked vehicle on Norman Street on May 5, 2013.  The theft occurred sometime between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM when the vehicle was parked.  There were many witnesses in the area who may have seen this individual on his bike.  The theft was caught on video and the picture attached to this release is a still photo taken from the video.   A GPS was also taken from the vehicle.  The total value of the goods stolen was approximately $550.00.  If you recognize this person, please call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861, extension 6168 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Cycling Season

The Sarnia Police Service would like to remind drivers and cyclist to “Share the Road” With warmer weather we will see an increase in the number of cyclist on the streets.

Drivers are urged to be patient and more vigilant while driving in the city. Cyclist are reminded that they must observe all traffic laws while riding a bicycle.

On Tuesday 07 May 2013a uniformed Sarnia officer was stopped for a red light at Wellington and Russell St. The officer watched as a 17 year old male riding a bicycle on the sidewalk ride through the red light while in the crosswalk. A driver proceeding through the green light was forced to brake suddenly in order to avoid a collision.

The cyclist was stopped and issued a $365.00 ticket for Failing to stop for a red light.

Weekend Antics

Sarnia Police were kept busy on May 4 and it started around 4 AM.  An officer stopped a car in the 400 block of North Christina Street.  The 18 year old male driver from Corunna had been drinking.  He was belligerent with the officer and became aggressive.  He was asked to provide a suitable sample of his breath into a roadside screening device and when he did, it registered a “fail”.  He was arrested.  He became more aggressive and attempted to get out of the cruiser.  He kicked the officer.  He now faces a charge of Assault Police as well as Driving with Over 80 MG.   He was later released on a Promise to Appear.

About a half hour later, at 4:30 AM, a 21 year old Sarnia man was found sleeping on the front yard of a home on Palmerston Street.   The police were called by the resident and when the man was awoken, he was found to be intoxicated.  Two wallets were found on him containing the identification of two different males.  One of the wallets did belong to him.  A…

Update: Muscat Facing Additional Charges

Mary Muscat, age 44, is now facing drug charges.  She was in court this morning and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.  Her new charges are Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Morphine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. 

On Wednesday, April 24, 2013, officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on the home in the 800 block of Maxwell Street after three people were arrested there on April 23.  This search warrant was applied for after the initial arrest of the three.  Police had remained at the home for crime scene security and investigative purposes.  The Sarnia Police Forensic Identification Branch was also processing the crime scene during that time.

On April 25, members of the Sarnia Police Vice Branch returned to the home to collect further evidence.  In total, 65 gram…

Queen Street Search Warrant

Three people were arrested last night when Sarnia Police Vice Branch executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Queen Street just after 10 PM.  Two people, a 25 year old man and a 31 year old woman, both from Brigden, were later released on a Promise to Appear.  The man was charged jointly with the other two adults with Possession of Marihuana.  The woman faces two additional charges of Breach of Probation.

The 37 year old man who lived at the residence on Queen Street was held in custody to await a bail hearing.  He faces the joint charge of Possession of Marihuana as well as Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Clonazepam for the Purpose of Trafficking and two counts of Breach of Recognizance.

In total, 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 4 grams of heroin and 42 clonazepam pills were seized. The street val…

North End Thefts from Vehicles, Two Arrested

Sarnia Police arrested two 18 year old men this morning around 4 AM.  They were arrested near Michigan Avenue and Murphy Road.  They are believed responsible for several thefts from vehicles that occurred in the Wiltshire and Twin Lakes subdivisions overnight.

The pair, together, started off in the area of Indian Road and Rosedale Avenue and travelled north bound, entering cars parked in driveways along the route.  They eventually made their way to the Twin Lakes Drive and Errol Road East area when a witness spotted them around 3 AM and called police.  Police remained in the area, scouring streets and sidewalks looking for the duo.

An officer spotted the men and stopped to talk with them when one of them fled.  Other officers arrived but he was apprehended a short distance away.  Both men are from Sarnia and live at the same mid city address.  One man was found in possession of a credit card not in either of their names.  Other items located on them were an iPo…
