Sarnia Police are asking for help to identify a suspect involved in the theft of E-Waste. The theft occurred on Wednesday August 27, 2014 around 7:40AM. The video surveillance image shows a male suspect drive his black pickup truck beside a business that provides a drop off area for e-waste. The male has no idea he is caught on video surveillance video as he puts on a mask to conceal his identity. The items dropped off become the property of the business and this is a property theft. Police are unable to enhance the video to identify the license plate.

Suspect to Identify

Sarnia Police are attempting to identify a man involved in damaging property. The man was caught on surveillance video at about 3:34 AM, Tuesday August 19, 2014 as he left the Sarnia Bay Marina. The man can be seen at the commencement of his destructive tirade as he is leaving.

Hit and Run Vehicle To Locate

Sarnia Police are asking for assistance in locating a suspect vehicle involved in a hit and run collision.

On Tuesday September 8, 2014 around 2:00PM a red van was stopped for a traffic light at Wellington Street and Indian Road going east. A small blue car driven by a male party ran into the back of the van. The driver of the blue car then reversed and left travelling east on Wellington Road.

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model Toyota Yaris or Matrix. The car will have considerable damage to the front end including the grill, bumper and hood. The only occupant in the blue car was the driver and he is described as being approximately 40 years old and of Asian descent.

Suspect Turns Himself In

On the 17th of July 2014, an unknown male entered an electronics store in the 1300 block of Exmouth Street. The male was described as 6'2″ to 6'3″ weighing approximately anywhere from 215 lbs to 230 lbs wearing a ball cap and sunglasses to conceal his identity. The male began selecting several items associated to gaming totaling an approximate value of $2900. He then exited the retail store through the installation bay when an employee caught sight of him. The employee gave chase to the male who began unloading the electronics into an un-plated late model Chevy Camaro. The store employee intervened resulting in a physical altercation. Other employees noticed the scuffle and came to their co-workers aide. The male then fled the scene. The employees were able to retrieve all of the stolen property. During the altercation, the suspect lost his ball cap and sunglasses.

Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Charges

At about 7:00AM Thursday September 4, 2014 a Sarnia Police Service Traffic officer stopped a 39 year old Sarnia man for speeding on Modeland Road. The man was caught on radar travelling 118 km per hour in a 80 km per hour area. It was discovered the man was a disqualified driver and was arrested. During the arrest the officer could smell the odour of alcohol and requested the man provide a sample of his breath into a roadside device. The instrument indicated a fail and the man was taken to the police station to provide a sample of his breath. The officer also located a small amount of suspected cocaine in the vehicle as well. Once at the police station the man's breath test showed he was one and a half times the legal limit.

Most alarming was the fact his 6 month old child was in the back seat of the car.

Three Property Related Arrest

On Friday August 29, 2014 at about 9:45 PM a man was seen rifling through a storage locker beneath the front porch of a home in the 300 block of Christina Street. The 33 year old culprit was followed by the witness until officers arrived and arrested him. The Sarnia man was searched and property that he had taken from the storage locker along with about 1 gram of suspected crystal methamphetamine was found in his possession. The man has been charged with Break and Enter, Possession of a Controlled Substance and five counts of Breach of Probation.

On Friday August, 2014 at about 8:30 PM a member of the C.O.P.P.S Unit observed a car with stolen license plates. This car had also been involved in several gas drive off, s in the city. Sarnia Police and Fire Department Participate in Ice Bucket Challenge

Sarnia Police Constable's Mark David, Sean Van Vlymen, Karl Brown and Richard Scott along with Sarnia Fire Fighter Marc Butler participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. In turn, the officers invited other officers and fire fighters to participate in the challenge.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. ALS Canada is committed to the fight against ALS but requires donations to continue the fight. The officers have donated to the cause and will continue to donate with every “like” they receive on Facebook.
